bride sat on chair in Ashfield House Lancashire

I was recently invited by Lancashire wedding venue Ashfield House to take part in a creative wedding photography shoot there to show the different ways in which wedding photographers capture images in the same venue. It was a really great day and it was very interesting to see how we all saw and made us of the same location.

Our bride and groom for the day, Suji and Jits, were recently married and very kindly agreed to model for us all. They were brilliant in front of the camera, making them so much fun to photograph.

We all took it in turns to photograph the newlyweds in various locations around Ashfield House. I loved seeing how we each saw the same room in a different and unique way. It just goes to show how different one wedding photographer is from the next. We each work in different styles, use different cameras and lenses and the photographs we all captured reflected those differences.

Ashfield House is a beautiful building which is perfect for creative wedding photography. The house itself has lots of different areas, which gives it so much variety. I took lots of my images by putting my lens right next to the stained glass I found and shooting through it.

The gardens outside are stunning too. I can imagine it being an absolutely amazing venue for a summer wedding especially. I certainly hope that I will be asked to photograph a real wedding here in the not too distant future.

In fact I enjoyed working at Ashfield House so much that I decided to hold one of my wedding photography workshops there. You can see the photographs from the workshop by clicking here.

This was the first time I had been to Ashfield House in Lancashire and what a magnificent venue it is. Ashfield House was built in 1755. It has a really interesting history, which you can read about on their website. Over the past few years it has undergone extensive renovations to become an absolutely incredible country house wedding venue. Couples getting married here have the whole venue exclusively to themselves too. I am sure that as it becomes more well known it will become an extremely popular choice with brides.

It was lovely to meet Katie, who owns and runs the venue. Katie and her team of experienced staff looked after us all so well on the day and made sure that everything ran perfectly. I must also make a special mention to the chef who made out lunch too as it was amazing!

Another huge thank you goes to my good friend Phoebe from the award winning Flossy & Leigh who made Suji look absolutely stunning.

Here are my favourite wedding photographs from what was a fantastic day.
