Wedding photographs from Arley Hall in Cheshire
Jenny and Andy’s wedding at Arley Hall in Cheshire was such a brilliant day. I had photographed the wedding of Andy’s sister, Helen, last year so I had got to know Andy and Jenny a little bit before the wedding too which was really nice, and I knew that their day would be really special (just as Helen’s was!) – and that is exactly what it turned out to be 🙂
I would like to say a huge thank you to Jenny and Andy for asking me to be their photographer, it was a real honour to be asked to capture such a beautiful day, and also for sharing their wedding story below. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together x
- How did you both meet?
We met courtesy of mysinglefriend.com! We started emailing with a common ground of both being from ‘up north’ wile living in London. We met outside Covent Garden Tube station on our first date and have been together ever since.
- Andy, How did you propose?
Lets just say Jenny had no idea it was going to happen due to my scheming to keep her off the scent! After trying to persuade Jenny to visit her favourite Chateau in the Dordogne in France to no avail, it ended up being a proposal under the stars in the Vendee…and a very shocked Jenny.
- How did you find wedding planning?
We enjoyed planning and didn’t get too stressed. Andy is super organized so he kept spreadsheets of all costs to try and keep us in check. Our top tip would be to try not to please everybody else, it’s your day!
- Why did you choose to have your wedding at Arley Hall?
We loved Arley Hall and Garden’s the moment we arrived. As we were having civil ceremony we wanted a really special venue where we could have the whole day at one location. Arley Hall is beautiful for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, then the evening celebrations are held at Olympia Barn. The Gardens are beautiful too so there are so many photo opportunities! The staff at Arley were all superb on the day.
- What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Aside from the ceremony itself, we both loved the evening festivities. It’s an amazing feeling having all your close family in friends in one room having a great time. The band ‘The Indie Killers’ were amazing and Jenny singing with them made her night!
Neil was superb; he worked like a trooper all day and we now have so many great shots of to treasure >> Thank you both so much!
- Which is your favourite wedding photograph?
Jenny – I love the picture of us framed in the magnolia tree. It’s so relaxed and pretty.
Andy – There are so many good ones it is hard to choose; we’re going to need a bigger house to find the wall space for them! The photo of us in the cylindrical ilex tree avenue in the gardens is spectacular, and the one with Jenny beneath the chandelier is great.

Sublime Neil – I love Arley Hall and you’ve taken it to the next level here. I especially love the super-wide backlit portrait with the hedge columns – that’s a flippin cracker. You are the master of making beautiful light.
Much as I admire and respect Adam … he’s wrong! The best shots here are the portraits of the bride in the library. They’re simply sublime and totally beautiful.
I love the one the’re staying in front of the building, that shadow… Inspiring!
