Gill and Andy’s wedding at Eaves Hall in Clitheroe had everything, laughs, smiles, emotion, happy families and beautiful venues. But best of all, a bride and groom who are so nice you just want to do everything you can to make their photographs as special as possible – you couldn’t find a nicer couple than Gill and Andy 🙂
Here is Gill with the story of how she and Andy met and their amazing wedding at Eaves Hall!
Andy and I met on a night out in Leeds 8 years ago, it was my birthday and it was also Easter weekend so Andy was there with his friends from uni. We got chatting and realised we were both from Preston so it all went from there.
Andy proposed whilst we were away in London for the Marathon weekend. He ran the race in the morning and that evening we went to a Michelin starred restaurant in Mayfair. On the walk back to the hotel Andy got down on one knee and proposed near Berkeley Square. It really took me by surprise, I couldn’t believe he’d planned it all and he’d even asked my parents beforehand. The story ended up in our local newspapers with the headlines ‘Running up the aisle’ and ‘Marathon man wins a bride’! The whole weekend felt really special and it meant more that Andy had put the time into planning it and bought the ring in advance.
How did you find wedding planning?
I really enjoyed the wedding planning, it was made easier as Andy and I wanted the same look and feel to the day so picking things like the venue and the band were really straightforward. The rest of the planning was left to me and my mum and sister were brilliant and helped with lots of the decision making. My florist had the fantastic idea of creating an online pinboard which helped to bring together all my ideas and see the overall look.
Why did you choose your wedding venue?
We fell in love with our venue, Eaves Hall, as soon as we saw it. The Ribble Valley is a beautiful place and the venue had everything to offer. It would be exclusively ours for the day, there were enough bedrooms for the majority of our guests to stay the night and the character and style of the venue, together with the fantastic staff, made us feel very comfortable. We knew we were in safe hands! We wanted it to feel like a house party where everyone could do as they pleased, whether it be sit and drink in the bar, dance to the band or play snooker in the games room and that’s exactly what happened. It was great seeing all of our family and friends together looking so happy.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
We enjoyed every second of our wedding day, everything went perfectly and we couldn’t have wished for anything better. Getting ready with my mum and the girls was very special and walking down the aisle with Pops was so emotional, all of which has been captured so superbly by Neil. Reverend Mike Hartley at St Paul’s Church in Warton carried out such a warm and personal service, we felt completely at ease and knew we could relax and enjoy the Ceremony.
Who were your suppliers?
We were very lucky to have such wonderful wedding suppliers who all worked together to make our day perfect. My hairdresser Claire and the make-up artist Emma from Wedding Belles were fantastic, it was lovely getting ready with them in the morning and the girls looked beautiful.
Jane and the team at Flower Design worked absolute wonders with our bouquets and the flower arrangements. I received so many compliments on the flowers, they looked and smelt divine and really helped to bring together the style of the day.
Emma at Dan Kerr Brides was wonderful, she knew exactly what I wanted and nothing was too much trouble. She made us feel special every time we walked into the shop and I felt amazing in my dress.
Our friends Laura and David very generously lent us one of their Royal Mail post boxes from their company Lancashire Party Post Boxes which complimented the vintage style and provided a secure way to store our cards.
Our friend Denise made us the most amazing wedding cake I’ve ever seen. She knew exactly what style I was looking for and worked so hard to create the perfect cake. It got everyone talking and even the venue said they were the best cupcakes they’d ever seen. Considering this is a hobby for Denise and the first wedding cake she’d ever made we were absolutely astounded by the results. We wish Denise lots of success in setting up her business ‘Carr’s Cupcakes’, we know there’ll be lots of happy customers!
Everybody who came to our Wedding commented on how good a party the evening do was and this was all down to The Deadbeats band. They had guests from all generations up dancing and created the perfect atmosphere.
And of course Neil, the wedding photographs were one of the most important things to me as a lasting reminder of our day. It’s fair to say I am in awe of Neil’s work and his work ethic. We knew as soon as we met him that we’d get on well and could completely trust him to deliver and that’s exactly what he did. I can’t thank Neil enough for capturing our day so perfectly. He worked tirelessly yet unobtrusively and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to other brides, you will not be disappointed >> Thank you SO much Gill x
“The photograph below perfectly captures how surprised I was to see peonies in my bouquet. I didn’t think I’d be able to have them due to the time of year but Jane at Flower Design pulled out all the stops and delivered the most beautiful surprise, it really set up what turned out to be the perfect day.”
“I love this photo when my mums make up was revealed by Emma, she looked so beautiful and it was such a happy moment.”
“This photograph makes me smile every time I look at it, our nephew Nick looked so handsome. He was a star all day and made us feel so proud”
“My fantastic parents, I couldn’t have done it without them.”
This makes me laugh, I’ve just seen my gorgeous Pageboys outside the Church and Pops is saying to my sister “What do I do with this dress?”
“This was such a special moment, Pops and I both felt really emotional walking into Church but as soon as I saw Andy I thought we’re here, we’ve made it, I’m 100% ready to do this and instantly relaxed.”
“This is a great photo of our nephew Jake, he’d wandered into the aisle and looks very cute and innocent.”
“Andy and I couldn’t decide whether to stop for photos on the way to the venue as time was getting on but we’re really pleased we made the time to do what we’d planned as Neil managed to get some great photographs on the way to Eaves Hall.”
“We love this shot, the lighting is fantastic.”

Wow what a beautiful wedding and a beautiful bride !! Great photos !!!
Super fab pics Neil x
The bw shot of the bride and her dad going into church is perfect documentary – the upright shape, the shape of the two people, the spire – it all just matches. Brilliant. And some of those twilight shots look like they were shot in a studio – which I mean as a compliment! Quite brilliant mastery of environment and light. You’re pretty good, has anyone ever told you that? 🙂
