What a fantastic day Katie and Paul’s wedding at Peover Golf Club was. An amazing couple who couldn’t be any nicer, beautiful venues and I got to work with the fantabulous Phoebe and Amy from Flossy & Leigh again! It all added up to be an absolutely perfect day 🙂
A huge thank you to Katie and Paul for asking me to be their wedding photographer, it was an absolute pleasure to capture their day for them. Here is Katie with her wedding story:
Hi Katie! How did you meet Paul?
At Lancaster University. We met on a university bus trip on the way to a nightclub in Blackpool. We realised we were both from Macclesfield and got chatting – 10 years later here we are today!
How did Paul propose?
Paul went down on one knee at the summit of Shuttlingsloe near Macclesfield Forest and presented me with a Harribo ring! After saying yes I was then taken to a lovely hotel & spa in the Lake District for a couple of nights which was amazing. The boy did good! >>> We went back to the location that Paul proposed for the pre-wedding shoot, which you can see by clicking here 🙂
Did you enjoy wedding planning?
I loved it (most of the time). We were lucky that we had a lot of support from my mum; she did a lot of the organising so we have a lot to thank her for. Our wedding planning experience may have been different without her help. We also had a team of fantastic suppliers – the day would not have been the same without them. I would always recommend selecting suppliers that are passionate about what they do and that you trust completely to do a good job.
Why did you choose Peover Golf Club for your wedding?
We wanted a venue that was small, intimate and a little bit different. We found Peover Golf Club and booked a meeting with the wedding team. The venue was stunning and we fell in love with it straight away.
A traditional church wedding was also important, so we visited the local church in Lower Peover – St Oswalds. We knew straight away it was the church for us. Jane (the Reverend) was brilliant and extremely welcoming. We felt part of the community from day one.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
It’s so hard to choose as the day from start to finish was amazing and we loved every second of it. One thing that really made our day was having all our family and friends from all corners of the globe in one place. It’s the only time in your life it happens so sitting back and taking that in on the day was special. We also loved the church service, particularly seeing each other for the first time at the alter and hearing the church bells ring when we were married.
Who were your wedding suppliers?
Makeup & hair wasn’t a priority for me but then I came across the amazing Flossy and Leigh! Booking these two beautifully talented ladies was the best decision I made. I can’t believe I even considered doing my own hair and makeup. Phoebe and Amy are genuinely lovely girls and couldn’t do enough for us. The morning of the wedding was so much fun thanks to them.
John from Olive Tree Catering was superb. John’s passion for food and sense of humour came across from day one. From the very first meeting and tasting evening, to the wedding day itself – the service was faultless and the food was amazing.
On the day, the flowers and venue looked fantastic and it was thanks to the talented ladies from Dreamweavers. Nothing was too much trouble! We also loved working on the excellent wedding stationery with Leanne from invite you to the do.
7th Heaven Bridal in Congleton were also fantastic. I almost didn’t have a dress (very long story!) and after a distraught couple of weeks and only a couple of months to go, Helen and the team came to my rescue! I can’t thank them enough. Top service!
The evening entertainment was also brilliant. Pianist and singer Guy Porteus kick started the entertainment during the drinks reception and dinner, followed by the amazingly talented Paul Pashley and his 4-piece band in the evening alongside DJ Dave Dennison. I don’t think there was a second of the night when the dance floor was empty.
Finally and most importantly was our wedding photographer – Neil Redfern. We instantly fell in love with Neil’s work – his talent, passion and personality shone through from day one. We knew he would be brilliant and we were right. Thanks so much again Neil 🙂 >>> Aww, thank you SO much Katie & Paul!! x

Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Perfection! It brought a tear to my eye xxxxxxxxxx
That semi-silhouette in the church doorway – simply knockout shot. And while I love shooting at that church, I know how dark and murky it can be inside – but not in Redfern land! You’ve worked your magic on it.
